Sean brings a wealth of experience encompassing a broad spectrum of design and development disciplines, including User Interface/User Experience (UI/UX) design, mobile-first design, responsive/adaptive design, and graphic and visual communication. His expertise extends to the design process and a comprehensive range of web technologies, such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, Java, XML, MySQL database, and Apache HTTP Server.
Throughout his career, Sean has collaborated with diverse clients, ranging from large organizations with stringent brand guidelines to small and medium-sized businesses seeking to establish a unique visual identity within their respective industries. Notably, he is adept in understanding clients' needs and effectively communicates with them to achieve desired outcomes, irrespective of budget constraints.
In addition to his extensive web and interactive technology knowledge, Sean has over 20 years of experience as a post-secondary educator. Holding a degree in Applied Information Technology (INFOTEC) from Capilano University and a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Internet Systems from the University of Liverpool, Sean brings a wealth of theoretical and practical knowledge to his teaching roles.
Sean also has a long history as a music composer and sound designer with a full understanding of audio engineering and modern recording techniques. As a co-founding member of Studio X Labs, Vancouver's premier full-service audio facility, he has contributed to the creation of music, sound design, and speech assets for numerous interactive games, videos, films, and web-based projects for top game companies and advertising industries in Vancouver.
Sean is also an accomplished musician serving as the lead vocalist and drummer in electro-industrial band NUMB, drummer in the industrial-rock collective Jakalope, drummer in legendary punk rock band SNFU, and has also been a member of alternative-rock, singer-songwriter Bif Naked’s band. He continues to write music and perform with Rat Silo, a project featuring former members of Canadian alternative-rock legends Sons of Freedom.
Sean has taught students in the Graphic Design, Web Design and Development, Digital Film and Video, and Professional Recording Arts programs. He is very comfortable with communicating complex concepts in a plain and simple manner to post-secondary students of various backgrounds and interests, effectively guiding and mentoring them towards their future career goals.
